It's funny, I live near some of the most beautiful surroundings this country can offer. Mountains, rivers and old growth forests continue to leave me breathless very time I turn around. And yet, I continue to be drawn to urban landscapes. Brick and mortar, concrete and metal can be some of the most beautiful man made substances. The sun can create magical shadows on asphalt and colourful reflections on glass and by using warm and cool colours I can change the temperature and general mood of the painting I am creating. Urban landscapes are a result of the interaction between humans and our environment so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I am attracted to these scenes and the story they tell.
